Worst pasty butt I've ever seen! Help!

I highly recommend giving them some probiotics. A brand called Sav-a-chik is a good one, find it at your feed store. Otherwise, yogurt or kefir mixed with some feed is also good. Probiotics will help the immune system from the inside out and help normalize digestion. Antibiotic cream will help reduce infection on the skin.

I had actually just mixed some sav-a-chick electrolytes and probiotics the night before for another sick chicken I have!! My pasty butt babies are doing sooooo much better today. I really was not sure that 1 or 2 of them were going to survive the night. I have 2 other chickens that currently have some sort of respiratory illness so I have them in isolation and I am using copious amounts of hand sanitizer and changing clothes so that I hopefully do not transmit anything to these poor pasty butt babies.

I have been keeping their rears greased up really good with vaseline and antibiotic ointment. The one white silkie out of the group had it the worst, and the poor thing, I just about can't tell his vent from the rest of his backside it is so messed up. Trying to keep him super greased up. Has anyone ever heard of their vent actually healing and growing closed?! I really worry about that since the whole area just looks so bad.

They are very active and all eating and drinking very well, so hopefully they will make a full recovery!! Chickens are amazing at handling some of the most horrible things!

They are doing SO GOOD!!! I should have taken some more pics since they healed up. I made them a cave with a heating pad and they are happier than pigs in mud. They have been in my bedroom for the past week and i just moved them to the living room in a larger rubbermaid last night since they are getting more active outside of their cave.

As you can see, their poopers work now. They poop SO MUCH! I have been keeping their rears lubed up with some creamy petroleum jelly so no more poop sticks and they dont get dry and cracked. The white one, who was doing the worst is almost totally healed up now. They eat drink and poop like grown men I swear. Thanks so everyone who gave me any advice!! They are doing so great!!

I really did not know where to begin after I got that poop off, but really it was so simple, just keep their booties covered in vaseline! They came to work with me one day because they needed frequent lubing, but after that they were good. Chicks heal so fast it feels like you can almost watch it happen! They are now all greasy and no longer very fluffy, and I assume that might make it a little harder to keep warm, but hopefully that will work itself all out in the next few weeks.

Took some pics last night. These guys have gotten so big!

Here is the little white ones rear before:

and after:

really thought I was gonna lose this one, his poor abdomen was so swollen and full of poop and he acted so sick for a good 24 hours.

Just in case anyone else ever has to deal with this I found that creamy petroleum jelly is way better than the regular kind!! I would usually apply antibiotic ointment once a day, then keep them moist with the creamy petroleum jelly, because if you didn't their skin would dry out and crack.

Also funny story, I was doing most of their doctoring at my computer table and I was using Q-tips to apply the petroleum jelly. I was pretty good about setting them off to the side to get thrown in the trash because I had a little pile of them on my desk at all times. Well one of them apparently did not make it to the trash, and I accidentally stuck it in my ear when I went to use one of those q-tips!!

EWW! Luckily there was not any visible poop on it, but still, I had rubbed that on a chickens rear!!
