Would a domestic goose kill a duck in the same enclosure at night?

A friend told me that one of her two domestic geese killed two ducks within 3-4 days. She thinks because the female goose is laying eggs (which the friend collects) she attacked at night the ducks in the same enclosure and killed one and 2-3 days later another one. She said one of the ducks looked like something laid on her (no harm but dead) and the other one was stocked between the wall and a cage. Daytime the geese and ducks get alone on the grass but in the enclosure I saw once the goose kind of chased the ducks. I do not know what's the truth but I rather suspect a predator is doing this. She has a big barn and two horses on one side under the barn roof but open on back side (just fenced the horse area) and next to it is the goose and duck enclosure also under the barn roof but open on the top because her chickens have a nesting place in the enclosure but sleep high on the poles all over the place. The ducks and geese go at night in the enclosure. The barn or stall is locked up at night but the horse side is open and the horse side wall or fence is made of steal posts 3-4 inches apart. I know from my experience that a raccoon can easily fit thru this space between still posts. Plus, they can climb. My friend said the raccoons have never get her chickens in the past but they are high on poles at night. So, what do you think who killed the two domestic ducks?

Some geese become very territorial when laying and are fully capable of killing other fowl confined with them. I am not discounting the possibility of predation, but unless the ducks were eaten that is unlikely in this case.

I agree geese should not be trusted with other poultry when going through breeding and laying season and if gosling during rearing season also.

I agree with @sourland and @Miss Lydia. Geese can get very territorial when they are laying/nesting/setting. They could easily kill a duck.

Yep. I'd blame the geese. My American Buff gander killed several 3-4 month old Orpington chickens and i thought permanently blinded an adult hen due to the damage to her face. She's fully recovered now. All of that occurred while they were breeding. Next year they will have their own pen. For now they are back in with the chickens and doing fine. Except they do like to worry the younger chickens up in wire cages. They do not like little birds for some reason...

Perhaps in a large enough pen, but the majority of the time I would not trust breeding geese with other poultry...

My daughters Male goose drowned her white duck, Goose is Male and Daisy was female, really never thought could happen, they are Animals but still sad.

Very sorry to hear this, yes geese can kill ducks I would never have mine in a run or coop with my ducks. BUT now that my gander of 14 ys pasted away my female goose is sleeping with the Runners and Buffs and chickens and she is behaving herself. Of course it isn't breeding season yet, last breeding season I had to partition her off from the ducks at night My Fawn and White Runner female had a fixation on my goose and would lay down for her and my goose chewed her face. Thankfully not too bad but enough that she didn't get to sleep with them.
