Would a radio in a coop at night, help to ward off predators??

I've had a radio in my coop every night since the first night my chickens moved into their new home. Not sure if it keeps predators away... but I haven't lost a chicken yet. Plus... I think my chickens like the noise, whether it be the talking or music. It seems to calm them after dark.

I know people who use radios with good success! Good luck. Reading about all of this peeing makes me have to go to the bathroom now....badly.

I have had a radio in the coop from day one and I think it has helped. I have found no signs of critters around the coop. I switch the station every few night. I have it on talk radio for a few days, then country music, then jazz, then rock etc etc. It is never the same noise for very long.

The girls do not mind it and have shown no adverse affects from it.

I've got coons running through my yard every night, so I've been looking at several websites for advice how to kill or repel them. I read one that said coons hate human voices, so a talk radio station would keep them away. No idea if it would repel other predators, though.

Well....I am feeling much more in control of the predator problem now....I cant wait to try all the different methods of deterrents and feel much better now about the foxes we have within sight of our backyard!
We set the live trap last night and caught another possum...probally the same old fellar we caught before...he figures he can get a free meal, a good nights sleep , and then get turned loose in the morning.

But if the weather werent so nasty I would have relocated his little hide this time!!!

I have a radio on all the time. I switch stations to rock, soul, western, talk, religious and my fav, the swap shop.

I have a low wattage light bulb on. It helps if one of the chickies falls so they can get back up on their roost.

I keep my birds in two wire mesh "stalls" 1x3 wire and they roost on these inside on wood perches, on top of them and also in the rafters of the barn. So far so good. It is IMPOSSIBLE to keep all varmits out of a barn. Too many nucks and crannies.

I put the feeders up and keep the babies in a brooder well off the floor of the barn in hardware mesh. I have a few dog cages on top of the brooder and a barrel. Every thing is up off the ground.

I collect all the eggs every night and keep the scratch and layer feed in two big plastic containers that nothing but a bear could get into.

Really there is nothing to attrack a pred. except the chickens.

i also do adversion feeding. The milk barn (abandoned) and the horse barn have small amounts of grain around them by heavy use and spillige.

I can then tell if a critter is scooping the place out. So far, no activity.

My hubby wired our coop with electric...so he was wondering if we kept a small little radio playing ...just at night? ...maybe a talk show station ? ....that having one on at night might deter predators??
I would think the sound of voices might keep them leary of coming around??
Anyone have any experience with this?

I suggested my hubby pee all around the coop...

Mark our territory , that might help??

After we lost our flock last year, we just keep coming up with these different ways to deter attacks to our chickens....

I have a radio on in the coop all the time after I lost some chickens to raccoons and possum, haven’t lost one since.

You won't find predators dying to get inside your coop once its predator proof .There're a pain to build but worth every dime.
