Would a tractor-type coop be too small?

I just wanted to update this post..... it's good news, but rather frustrating too....and a bit of a long story......but we are able to go with our original plan of the 8x12 coop that we had already started (photo is in this post somewhere). We were told we needed a zoning permit, and due to their regulations, there simply was nowhere to put it that would be suitable to us, and their regulations.

Well, I had one final question for the zoning inspector, (who has been out here several times, we've Emailed several times, and talked on the phone just as many times) and it turns out we do NOT need a zoning permit now! So our images of our 8x12 coop went down the drain, and are now in the planning process yet again!

He called it miscommunication, which is simply untrue, I told him all along it was a chicken coop we were building, and he, too referred to it as such, and my archived Emails proved both of us called it a chicken coop as well. But because it will be a "farm building", used to house livestock, we now don't need a permit. WHEWWWW!

He discussed my most recent question with a "higher up," I'm assuming the higher up reminded him that this would be a livestock building, exempt from a permit....

Either way...doesn't matter. A bit of stress and frustration, and a lot of wasted time, but now we can continue with what our original plan was all along.....

So our coop will have two "rooms," one for storage, and one for the chickens, and the nest boxes will probably be able to be accessed from the storage room with a door on the backside. Not 100% sure yet. Thankfully we haven't ripped the original coop "skeleton" down yet....or we'd really be mad! We also will incorporate some solar lighting, windows, and I've been reading a little about solar attic fans? Plan on looking into those as well. The more solar and less power, the better. But I'm so glad we don't have to go with something small, and get rid of some of our hens! (we only have 9...but I had hoped to maybe add a couple/few more, of a different breed, maybe RIR).

Anyway, just wanted to update. I've been eager to spill the beans with you! But just seemed too good to be true....I had to wait for it to sink in....
