Would all the real Cornish Breeders Please stand up.

Thanks for all of the pics Al. I really love those WLR and Darks you have. I have seen so many "exhibition" Cornish over the years and really dont like their extreme appearance much. Your birds look huge but very natural which is what I always loved about Cornish.
Any more pics of your Darks? I loved those two hens you had in the pics......great looking Dark Cornish!

Jubilee Cornish? Like Mille Fluer? I'll bet that s interesting. Cornish have never been my favorite, but these birds look really nice. And I love the thick legs on some of hem. I know that's part of the Standard but so many don't have that now...

Very observant statement, in the show circles that extreme appearance you speak of is desirable amoung many judges although the SOP doesn't call for such extremes. For instance what you see winning are birds with a super bulbus eye rim and crown, with the wattle, comb and eye flesh melding into one giving the head a very mean and stern look. I prefer to breed to the sop because I will allways get some with these traits from every hatch for the show folks, but when bred to the standard the Standard Cornish can indeed be a very handsome bird, with tight feathering, stout strong leg's but not stumps, and a clean line from head to tail.

Hatchery stock Cornish are in no way even a close resemblance to what these birds should be, and the competition in breed & show circles to control stock is so intense as to make the WLR, & White so very rare, to the point where these folks can manipulate the standard and influence show outcomes and that directs breeders to breed for that. I just want to preserve the breed in it's true form cause in my opinion they are very cool birds, and good examples are ever more rare.

I will try and post more picks as I remember to take the camera out to the Coop's, we all like to look at pic's LOL.

On a side note, The Original OP is longer with us on this forum, as he really can't post from a prison cell. I still hope we can continue this thread or perhaps I could create another one where we could hang out and talk Cornish. What do Ya'll think ??.

PM me and I will fill you in, don't want to post anything online, it's disturbing. And no you won't getting any eggs or birds from him.

Al, I am glad you understood what I was saying. When I think of Cornish I think of a large, powerful...even agile bird not the eccentric birds I see at shows. You are right about the eyebrows and skulls on those birds. The thing that bothers me the most is their leg spread and how large their legs are. They just dont look like they can move very well much less breed. I do like all of the pics of your Whites, I have honestly never seen many LF Whites in all my years but I do like those. I have raised Darks in Bantams and LF and really have always liked them, and I really like yours. Have raised WLR bantams several times but never seen any good LF like yours are.
Keep posting the pics when you can, it always nice to look at gorgeous chickens. Especially when they are bred to look like they are supposed to.

Al, I noted the cock bird you have is more leggy than many I see being bred up here. Some seem to be breeding so short in the leg there are breeding issues.

Wanted to check in with Al and see how your Cornish were doing? You mentioned some pics and I imagine we are all eager to see how your birds are coming along.

I have just recently gotten 2 roosters and three hens of the dark cornish bantams. All the hens are laying, I hope to get a few in the incubator this week, I have never raised dark any dark cornish before. but count me in on the thread. i am interested in all I can learn about them.
