Would the neighbor have caused this? Weird acting hens

We have talked with the kid before numerous times. He is around 18. He left the coop door open one night. We came home and it was dark. He must have ran out behind the coop when he heard us coming. We havent given him permission to come onto our property. We told him to Leave our property a few times though.Lol

That is what we are going to be doing soon! I am putting one on the door and another on the run. Now he can't get in there.

This is normal hen behavior, I doubt the kid had anything to do with it.

However, he sounds like a sneak, and since he's been trespassing and going into your hen house without permission, I'd definitely lock him out.

In your other thread, you said you weren't getting as many eggs as you should. Could it be that your hens are laying just fine? Could it be that this boy is stealing your eggs?

He absolutely has no business in your coop!

Why is a 18yo boy in the chicken coop? what is he doing in there? especially if you have talked to him before, and told him to stay out. Is he mentally challenged? I would be concerned that he is going into other places he shouldt be as well. Mainly my home.. or even the garage or my cars.

Luckily we don't have any extra cars around our house. All our sheds are locked up. I doubt that he is mentally chalenged. He is just weird!

My mom also thinks he might have a key and be coming into our house when we are gone. My dad never believes her but I think she has a point.

I know for sure he is stealing eggs. One day I was in the coop cleaning it at 5. My mom picked me up at 5:15 to go get my glasses fixed. Before I left the coop, I saw a hen lay an egg in a nest box. I came back 2 hrs later and it was gone. My dad didnt take it into the house either!

This kid sounds dangerous. Hes up to no good in the coop, maybe just stealing the eggs to throw at something?? Maybe he just really likes chickens? Hopefully its nothing weird going on.. The real worry is that if he is comfortable enough to go into your coop at will, then sooner or later he will move to other areas of the property like the garage, even the home itself..
Let alone he could be peeping at night or worse. I dont know if there are any young girls at your home but I would keep an eye out. Especially if you talked to him about staying out and he still does it.. Theres some aspect of the whole thing that he enjoys, thats why he continues to do it and thats whats scary.
