Would this be ok for mom and two babys?
This pic is under main coop, everything is fenced of plus hot wire.
The only thing that can get in the big pen is maybe mouse or rat.
The weather is highs 95's and lows 65's. As long as the rain doesnt blow in.
Im new to hatching chicks so any advise is welcome. TY

it would be for a couple of days but not for more than a week. they will want and need to be able to move around after that

Well the plan was to leave the door open, but after i put the food in the other hens try to get in there. so ill go with a few days maybe sooner. I have 1 more chik about 4 weeks old with a diff mom and they just slep on the ground under the coop till the chick could get back up in the coop. Do you think that is ok? Just wondering if im over thinking about it or if i need to make a better setup for them.

a secure set up is always a good idea, if it is built like fort knox then it should keep everything out and last a long time. sometimes its best to fork out extra $ and build well so it lasts rather than have to fix/ rebuild all the time because its not made as well. how you have it will suffice for now however keeping the other hens away from the chicks is a must as they may injure them and the mothers ( who will fight back to protect their chicks)

personally I never let my hens sleep on the ground, especially with chicks. they have a huge risk of predators, flooding/ wet and cold ground and rain from above

I never put my newly hatched chicks close to the ground.. This lessons the chance of them getting sick. But mom wil take care of her chicks. But I agree the cage is to small for more than a few days..
