would this keep hawks out

im gonna build a run and coop for the hens and pigeons that im getting. If instead of covering the top of the run with poultry wire could i tie lots of red twine and fishing wire across it to keep hawks out. Would this work to let the pigeons come and go as they please through the twine during the day and then at night lock them in the coop, or would they not be able to fly through it?

I'm not sure about that... We have a lot of hawks near our house and I'm pretty sure they would tear the twine and fishing line open. We have a heavy duty wire chicken coop, but the hawks weren't successful in getting the chickens. Why don't you just make a small door that hawks can't get into?
