Thanks all. I shall continue to mull.I am fully aware of the size of CA. Lol. I am not as confident in the ability to confine a disease to just one area, let alone one state. (No matter how ginormous that state may be.) But I really don't know. Thus the question.

But that was everyone's point. If you aren't confident about the disease staying in one area, it doesn't matter what part of the USA you buy from, because you feel the disease could have spread to far-away areas (for example, New York, because the disease could be carried by people moving with their chickens from CA to NY, there is still a risk in your mind.)
I think everyone else is right. You're safe to buy eggs in No. CA. Just go for it.
