Would you buy this rooster for $8.00?

I so agree. Unless you are showing your roos, damage from being picked on is not hereditary. Use the roo you've got!

P.S. Bring me the other one! LOL

The second rooster looks younger, so he'll probably fill in in a year or two. Orpingtons are a very slow maturing breed. I've had some birds that weren't fully mature until about two.

I think I like your rooster now because he is more mature. He looks pure buff to me. The other one looks pure to me as well, but he needs to do a bit more growing. How many hens do you have? If you like him so much, you could always buy him and see how he works out. Sometimes the younger roos get along well with an older established roo. What were you going to do with the roo you have now if you bought the other?

I am going to keep the one that I have and breed him with my girls. I only have the 5 hens and one is broody. If I did get the other one I was going to sell the one at a nearby auction.

He is beautiful! My BO doesn't quit look like that..If you look on my BYC page you can see mine-I only have 1 roo and he's it-look how big his tail feathers are. he was 9 months old in that picture...I gt mine from Murray Mc Murray-well a friend did and gave him to me with girl friends :)

Looks like the one you want to buy had his comb frost bitten. The points are rounded over. I like the one you already have too. Does he have a good disposition? If so keep him and buy the second one for backup.

I think one important factor is age of each. From my, very limited, knowledge these large breed birds slow down after 2. Some do and I am sure some don't. If you wanting him for breeding I would want the younger one, size is determined mostly by the pullet anyway
