Was getting ready to brine this bird. Upon opening it this is what I found. The blood was pink that came from the package but this bird looks like it was drug on the floor and left on it's top in an oil slick.

It looks like freezer burn to me. It may not be the prettiest chicken in the world, but I am sure it is safe to eat.

I want to amend what I said. I didn't realize it was a turkey. They come tightly wrapped so there should be no freezer burn. You were right to discard it.

I would've cut it up into dog-serving size portions and fed it to my dogs. It's good to hear that they gave you a refund.
