Would you get rid of your rooster if he..

I had 6 roosters last year that I had got as chicks in the spring. I kept the 1 that was the nicest with the girls. The others were quite rough with the hens and tore them up pretty bad, so King George got to live. The rest were very good as chicken and noodles.

If a roo caused more than a minor injury or 2 he'd be gone. My roos may be rough sometimes and there is much squawking but the hens have never had more than an odd feather or 2 pulled out. My standard roo suffers more injury from his hens then he causes. Torn combs and high possibility for eye injury sounds excessive and while I'd allow him a mistake or 2 I'm not going to have a half blind flock with no combs because of an idiotic rooster.

Only the nicest & best roosters deserve to be kept. I figure there are job opportunities for barely 10% of all roosters in the world. The rest find their purpose on a plate. There are many many nice mannerly roosters heading off to freezer camp. Do one of them, and all your hens, a favor and swap your bungling lout for a real gentleman.

Rudy, my 4 1/2 month old roo is rough too. I'm pretty sure he broke the neck of one of my lil' Polish gals. He's mean... bites them and pulls their heads waaaay back! We think he just pulled too hard on her little head and snapped her neck. :,(
