I was thinking instead of making all the chickens there own little hoo\\use in side a run, just a little house where you can lift one side of the top of the roof to reach in and get eggs and change the bedding. And maybe even have there names on each of them I THINK IT WOULD BE SO CUTE!.

Well, Im still thinking, what to do for the roof so water dont get in, and it would be cute to get like a ton of litte pebbles, and make little side walks like a have the houses in a line and have like a drive way from the door, then side walks from each drive way so it would be like a community what should I do for the roof to keep out weather like rain?.

My guess is, they will all try to pile into one of the houses and sleep together.
Cute idea, might work if you figure out your chicken cliques and give each clique their own house.

No I was thinking of making little fake mail boxes with it and put there treat in there, When it was time for bed I was going to put the in there own little house, I am still open to ideas on roof what is a cheap material to keep water out (Maybe tarp, would kinda look redneck maybe we should get it in different colors like red or pink for the girls or blue or green for the guys). I dont know but am still open for idea in my mind I see a little community chickens me letting them out in the morning to find a meal worm or spaghetti noodle in the "Mailboxes" And then some one will go run with there treat and be like neener neener neener i got a treat n u dont and theyll all eachother chase for it, then thay will walk down into town and scratch and find there food all day, Of course I will have there house in rows.

Oh ya, how big should I make it for 1 chicken I have 3 bantams and 4 buff orps going to hatch not sure yet if all will hatch tho day 20.

Continuity, I think may be the problem I am haveing understanding. I think i've missed something.
I guess you could use plywood, they also sell some metal or plastic sheeting at the hardware store to use for roofing.

As for their own house, my point was more that, they prefer to sleep together, very close together in fact. My chickens ignore all the roost space in my coop and cram themselves into a small corner. They don't like to sleep alone.

If I were to seperate my australorps from my dominiques into their own house, that might work since they usually seperate themselves that way anyway, but in fact, there are nights where they intermingle in the coop as well.

Sounds like your pretty gung ho on the whole project, and I do like the idea of little houses but I think your chickens are going to want a bed buddy.

Well, I was also thinking of putting couple in 1 but, if I end up with all my chicks hatching I will be left with 7 And will have to cram 3 togeth so every on in 2 exept for one group which would narrow it done to, 4 houses I would probly put the bantams in the 3 together, and then the buff orpingtons in pairs of 2. For ventaliation I would take a circle saw and make three hole in one side. I was going to use ply wood and tarp on the roof.

sounds good, to me, I think I need to go back through your other posts and see what Ive missed, or forgotten.

I was thinking of making some like that but have one for my white silkies, one for my black silkies, etc where there would only be about 3 or 4 each.

You might want to find something stronger then a tarp. My tarp was shredded after about 2 months.
