Wouldn't this work (homemade 'bator)

Someone gave me an incubator that works but the styrofoam bottom is missing...soooo I have this nice sized thick styrofoam cooler that I was wondering if I could us it and just move the parts over to it. It is twice the size of the original incubator but I want to use the parts and don't want to have to buy a bottom if the bigger cooler would work and I can put twice as many eggs. I just wonder if it would heat it properly with it being bigger. Any thoughts/suggestions? TIA

I have a better idea... how about I ship you my silkies. They will not stop setting! It's very annoying Them girls set all Spring, Summer, and Fall!!!

So, if the bator doesn't work just get a couple Silkies. They will get the job done

You can do a search of RC Airplane hobby stores,,there is a glue that is made to work with styrofoam,they have for the past couple of years made RC Foamie models,and these do not have a lot of landing gear-weight comsuming parts larger RC Planes has,,a company called Great Planes has a big website,go to the glue and adhesives section,and look for styrofoam glue.Perhaps you can locate and old styrafoam cooler someplace with the same thickness,and square up and cut out the bad spots,and then cut and glue in replacement panels.Do not get the cyano-acetone super wood glue,that is for wood models,this will not work.

REGARDING STYROFOAM GLUE...............

I kinda wonder IF the aerosol spray insulation FOAM would be a good alternative?

If I were in your shoes, I would move the heater/fan/etc over, put a thermometer with probe-in-water-wiggler/hygrometer in it, plug it in, and find out if the heater is adequate.

Experiment! If it doesn't work after fiddling with it....add a small light bulb for a bit of extra heat?

The spray insulator foam is great,if there is a form made to contain it.

Tx for the replies! I think I will go for it..I don't have anything to lose but the time and it is worth a shot. I will let you guys know how it turns out. If all is good I will post some pics. I want one more hatch before fall!!!!!
