Wound care

They are in coup open to run, all 15 weeks old.
Today I made a play pen out of kennel fencing and a piece of tin and lattice. A place to be outside next to run. She seems happy to have outdoor time with her flock and all the fresh grassy area has her distracted from the fence separating. Will only leave in this when I can be watchful, not predator proof. Will put her in her hospital cage at night.

Looking better today, not scabbed yet. Skin intact no feathers and red. My brother n law ( a long time chicken keeper) came over and agreed I had to separate or they would make a bigger wound and if they broke skin and caused bleeding she would get attacked. She is a look can’t touch area. I just integrated 3 new pullets- same age as flock) a week after seeing her peck wound) so pecking order is all in an upheaval. No fighting! Thank goodness, just some out of my way, little chasing but no pecking. The lower rank RIR are doing the chasing. Also the one last pecking the injured. I think they are trying to improve their ranking ( from what I read on this site) All others are pretty much ignoring new comers.

I put some neutradrench in her water and some high protein feed I know better nutrition helps humans heal so I figured would work for a chicken. She is relaxed and happy, yesterday she was a nervous wreck in the big run and unhappy in sick pen. Now she can visit with flock through fence
