I made a gigantor batch of chinese food that had mostly cabbage in it. We had a little for leftovers ourselves, but I gave the majority of the leftovers to the girls as a warm treat in the am. Shoooo-Weeee! Their coop smelled terrible

even with the coop door open! Word of caution to feeding cabbage...expect some after effects!!

I've noticed the same thing with spinach, and most fruits. Best fed during summer, when they're OUT of the coop more hours!

Not to worry. It has to be cooked cabbage to generate the gas. Raw cabbage will not cause that. When we eat saurkraut around here, the evening time sounds like both of us are trying to start chainsaws without the choke operated.

Yup, it's the cooked cabbage that's a problem! Raw isn't a problem.
