I have to just thank everyone. I have been searching on the incubation site and I have learned so much!

Back in the spring I hatched some chicks for a class project at school. I ordered 40 eggs ended up with 80 and hatched 32 polish chicks. After reading I can't believe I hatched any at all!! I bought a webcam so when an egg would start hatching we would open the lid and put the webcam to the egg as it hatched and all the kids got to watch it.

I have some silkie eggs coming so I will have a whole new view on how to incubate them.

maybe your experience just shows us how robust chicken eggs actually are and that maybe we all fuss just a little too much with details that im quite sure momma chickens dont ever worry about...odd numbers of turns/ turning end over end vs equatorially, humidity controlled within 5%, temp controlled within 1 degree F etc. ( dont get me wrong Im trying to do all those things too!!LOL)

good luck with the silkies mate...i have 13 in the bator currently!
