A few years ago I stopped at a farm house to ask for permission to goose hunt. As soon as I got out of my truck an elderly woman came out on the porch and immediately started yelling for me to get off her property. She then follows me back to my truck without once stopping her tirade. As we get to the truck, my JTR jumps up to look out the window, locking the door in the process. I mumble a profanity under my breath and the old lady demands to know what I said. When I told her that the dog had just locked me out of my truck she starts laughing like crazy. I inform her that just as soon as I can walk home and get a spare set of keys I'll be back, and I'm really glad that something got you to smile. She immediately broken into a big grin, appologized for being in such a foul mood and then offers to take me home to get my keys. She had recently lost her huband, was having tax problems, was being beseiged by land developers and just took it out on me. She wound up letting me hunt, and we remained friends until her death. So I guess when people get mad and yell and you don't respond in kind, sometimes good things can happen. I did however start carrying a spare key.
