wow! my first olive egger!! :)

I have a closed flock. A few of my EE hens have had offspring over the years with my RIR roo. However, this is the first time I have ever gotten a "olive" egg. Usually they are light blue or light tinted green. How does this happen, and can you tell how excited I am??!!?!

Congratuations! It's a beautiful egg. Olive Eggers are produced when one parent passes a dark brown egg gene to the offspring and the other parent passes a blue egg gene to the same offspring.
 
Wow! Thanks y'all!! I have the layer narrowed down to two of my pullets. This is pretty cool :)
