The subject of wrapping feet came up the other day so I thought I should start a thread where people can post pictures of how the wrap feet.

Here is one I found of a duck that had it's foot wrapped by a vet. To me it looks like there is a layer of gauze on the leg and foot that was then covered with Vetrap which has the duct tape on top.

The owner of the duck did their bandage changes with these items:

This is how another member wrapped one:
As promised, bandaging step-by-step...

I put a thick layer of antibiotic ointment on.

1/4th of a gauze pad.

This is how I position the vetwrap to start; right under the back toe, halfway across the web. I am not sure how long it is, I just eyeball a duck-foot sized amount.

Wrap gets continued to the other side and a triangle sized amount pinched shut to allow for the angle change.

Wrap continued to the other side, then pinched shut. I find tweezers work best for making it stick to itself the most.

Does that make any sense?

Good thread because I have wrapped many a chicken foot but never had to do a duck yet. Always thought I would make a shoe first cut out of heavy cardboard or plastic container size of web wrap in tape then lay the foot on top then wrap because the foot would be flat on the shoe already.

I have wondered the same thing. I live in the mountains and we have rocky terrain no way I can get rid of all the rock even when I pick them up the ground just makes more. Thankfully never have had bumble foot in any of my water fowl and only in 2 chickens up till this year when 4 of my Salmon Favorelles had bumble and one of my Chocolate Orpingtons all a year old. Tender foot maybe? I checked all my older hens who are LF and heavy breeds and none of them have any feet troubles but these youngsters did. All healed now. But we have also had a lot of rain up until recently and when I'd check their feet they would have redness on their skin so may a combination is the problem? I have no idea just glad for now no more bumble.
