Whoohoo, chicks in about 5 or 6 weeks!

All those eggs from today are really pretty.

So, black eggs huh, how do you get those? Other than Cayuga ducks right?

Dark purple is close enough, I'm willing to settle for them if I can't have black eggs.

I kinda just let nature take its course. Mine had a hard molt this year so trying to let them get their feathers sorted before adding extra light. One of my blue's is excitedly broody so I'm happy to maybe have a surrogate in a month or two for some newbies

Even with supplemental lighting the ladies will take a break and molt. Congrats on your broody, I love a good broody, makes life so much easier!

My very first dozen in a day. A milestone...
Left 4 are mixed coop, middle 4 are Marans hens, right 4 are 3 Marans and OE pullets.

And sold 4 of the 7 boys today. Tomorrow I'll move the remaining 3 (14 wks) over that are still in with Kong. Hopefully there won't be too much of a fuss and gives me all day to supervise.

Random Randomness....it's eerily quiet here with only 8 boys. Technically only 5 1/2 crow, but still....dead silence

But yeah, we can go with 1/2 a crow also as his crow isn't full all the time.
