Wrath's Marans

This is Euro correct? I looked up exchange rate and it's pretty dollar for dollar.
Last year I was selling all my Marans at POL for 30 each. With deals for multiples.

Ordering a new incubator and Govees next week.

What's this mean?
Are you restricted on selling live birds?
It’s the pound, we don’t use Euros here! (I guess it would be logical but since the pound is stronger we never got rid of it, plus we left the EU now anyway.) about $1.30 in one £1, so £5 about $6.30. Its an easy assumption though I guess, I’m not actually offended 😂.

Royal Mail, the national postal service, doesn’t allow posts of live animals, so chicks would have to be transported by professional couriers for a higher fee, if customers were not able to pick them up. Also with bird flu restrictions in some counties it wouldn’t be legal to move birds in or out, though that doesn’t affect me (yet).

Make sure you charge a good price for the marans. They are the darkest layers in the world and not exactly common, atleast here. I scan Craigslist and Facebook a lot for chickens and they are fairly rare to find any of quality like yours. Our local feed store sells hatchery chicks of common breeds like barred rocks and Rhode Island Red etc for $8.

Thank you for the feedback. I did a search on CL and none really local but out of state are varying between $5-15 for BCM day olds.

In NC, day old Marans (if you can find them) from a known dark egg laying flock are about $10-$15 or more. Plus you have to drive to pick them up.
I'd gladly pay this for good stock. Sadly, none are close enough to me.

There are a few backyard breeders that sell cheaper but the eggs are not dark. Birds often look nothing like Marans. Questionable biosecurity, too.

You have got the goods, so to speak! You charge a good fair price, I think you will get it.

Good luck! ❤️

Thank you for your insight. I really got to put some thought into this.

Another 1st egg day from purple band. Had to take a few pics to show all the speckles...🙂

I sell mine straight run 10 each for new hatched chicks, and more once I can sex them, unless people bat their eyes at me a lot. I have a high degree of agreeability so I don't haggle very well, but I have a hobby of hatching poultry so I guess I am going to keep doing it.:wee
Thank you for the info... I agree hatching is very addictive. 🙂

@wrathsfarm I’ve got a question that’s maran related ish. So my maran mix rooster, Fred, he’s a year old. And circumstances being what they were, he stayed indoors for A LOT longer than he should have..blah blah blah..
Anyway here recently since it’s been cold, 12 degrees at night, and Fred crows and crows until I finally give up and bring him back in. Once he’s inside he snuggles down and sleeps. It’s odd though because I’ve got coop heaters in the coop and it’s 42 degrees in there. My other chickens are perfectly fine. There’s no fighting or bullying going on either. I’ve got cameras in the coop, and he just stands up on his roost and crows, until I go get him. Actually he follows me into the house, he climbs the porch stairs just as pretty as you please, pecks at the door until I open it for him. Is this odd behavior a Maran thing? Or does Fred have “special” needs? Surly it’s not possible to spoil a rooster…right?!
