Wrath, I met a lady today who has Lavender Marans

Are they a real thing????

I've seen them.

It's a double recessive trait effectively.
A lot of people call them self blue etc.

They are pretty but it's double recessive and a newer color so not much variety etc. Still really pretty.

She was wanting a pure black Marans without copper to breed to - so now when she said that it makes sense seeing your image.

I think Lavender is super pretty, but I worry about the feather shredder gene. I could never keep track enough of things to make sure I don't breed incorrectly lol

Black Coppers and BBS Silvers. Poppy is my Recessive White male in the BBS Silvers and as soon as I hatch White females I'll start a White line also.

Edited to add... And an experimental cross Black Copper x Black Silver hatch growing out. Don't think there's a name for them other than Marans x Marans mash up.

Another BA hatched 2 from Ravens eggs on Friday the 13th if one is a male I'll name it Jason.
This hatch was doomed from word go, so seems fitting.
