Wrath's Marans

Just catching up! So many fluff butts! 😍
I'm trying to catch up also. 🥴 Haven't got pics of Jett with her 2 and 2 she adopted from Angel that killed her 1st born.
And Black killed her first born with one egg remaining that quit early, so now I'm breaking those 2 broodys.

And still have 2 broodys left to hatch yet.... It's been quite the year.
I haven't set eggs under Betty yet and inclined to just break her also and be done after Dbl. Yellow hatches hers on the 14th.

I don’t know how you do it with all the broody girls 😅🤣
And chicks are also so much work 😅

It's been challenging... At first Spring I thought... let's incubate some eggs, and then Joannie and Momma may go broody as I've only had 1 broody per year..all good.
Then Joannie and Momma both went broody. Ok cool. Fun stuff.
Then another went broody and another and another...🤨

So 1 two years ago, 1 last year and 10 broodys this year.

Stir crazy is an understatement....🤪

Is chick raising easier with a mamma hen? I assume it would be. Not that I would know all artificial hatching/raising over here :(

Yes, so much more. She keeps them warm, feeds and shows them water, finds the treats and protects them from the flock and predators and if left to hatch in the coop, they are already integrated into the flock.
Close enough! I know I’ve said this before but I Love that rooster!!
♥️
I’m totally calling him cornflake! (Not to his face or anything lol)
He won't mind....🤣

And while I was replying my Shadow appeared for her daily attention. IMG_20240806_121106.jpg
