3 sets of eggs from Jessi, Gloria and Harmony. 13 total. Harmony's are over 2 weeks old but I'll throw some hope that maybe 1 will hatch. I'll have to watch these little ones grow out as these are all pullets eggs,

But here we go again.....🤪
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Great minds think alike :celebrate:highfive::yesss:

I've hatched pullet eggs without issue, I know it's not preferred, but times like this are good reason to blur the "best practices" a little bit.

Oh my, that's amazing what you did for those girls!!! Wonderful that he took the time to know what to look for too!

Jessi and Gloria are both looking great and the eggs are beautiful, I'm sure they are going to be well loved :hugs

This just means you MUST hatch some more chicks ASAP! How many broodies are you up to now? Or is it time to whip out the incubator!?!
Incubatored up !!! 👍

I've had 10 broodys so far this year, all 9 BCM hens and 1 in the mixed flock.

Exactly... My thought process here is I need more of Joannies progeny only having the one pullet but she hasn't started up laying yet from her molt. By hatching from Jessi gives me grandbabies (F2) and hopefully darker eggs yet. Harmony is my wild card because her eggs are a little older than 2 weeks but she was my first grandbaby (F2 from Joannie) in the Easter hatch so if any of these hatch, these will be my first great-grandbabies (F3). And first grandbaby now from Betty.

But as I went to grab Gloria and Jessi's eggs this morning to set.. I found I still had some from Harmony so...yay.

A bakers dozen is a cookin' !! 🙂

The oldest I've set were 2 weeks old and I didn't see any issues with hatch rate. My friend has done up to a month before, so I would think your Harmony eggs have a decent chance. I would have been disappointed in you if you hadn't grabbed those eggies :old

Great grands!!! That's really cool. I hatched the first eggs from my own flock this year, that was really exciting to me, I'm looking forward to hatching some grandbabies next year! They will be mix breeds, but... I'm still excited :D

It's not the pairing I wanted to do which I don't even know that yet without selecting thru all the grow outs but it's more these 3 pullets eggs did darken up a tad so mainly want to keep that egg color in the flock and maybe, hopefully the progeny will be a little darker still.
Basically I would've been back to hatching sisters with same color eggs but doing this gets me another generation and possibly another shade darker egg.
As long as Kong, Joannie and Betty are here I can hatch more Jessi's and Gloria's. This is my only chance to get this next generation from them and keep their dark eggs in my flock.

I know most of you know all this, but maybe it helps someone newish that's wondering what all the fuss is about with these pullets eggs.
I'm by no means an expert here with perfect birds but if I can increase my egg color #, it's still a step forward for me in the right direction.

The year is not over yet! ;)
Oh yes it is! I have one egg left to hatch that took a fall in the breeding coop. Once that one's hatched, I pray it will be able to join it's siblings. That's it! That was my one and only hen-hatch I allowed this year. The rest is all me and my four incubators lol. Well, they get a little credit for laying the eggs, when they will lay instead of be broody!
