Wrath's Marans

Those are great, I came very close to getting some lavender ameraucanas eggs recently. I’m trying hard to select away from bearded chickens due to the extreme heat here, but they lay such nice blue eggs.
Mine do really well in the heat, most of my pea comb birds do

Beautiful girls. Love Marans. But my Midnight Marans have all stopped laying...8 of them after a year!! Also several of them are egg eaters!! Any idea why??
They all went through a tough molt this winter but my Prairie Bluebells are laying again. Also in Michigan.
Thank you for any help.

Are they locked up or do they free range? Maybe a hidden nest somewhere🤔

Thanks... Any changes what so ever that would cause stress? How old? When was their last molt?
Odd that all 8 would stop at once, or did they stop for molt/winter daylight and not start back up?

I've never had intentional egg eaters only accidental if an egg gets broke but that's not good to have spreading thru your flock if its intentional.

Momma is broody...got her situated today into her temporary spot with more of Jett's eggs. I wanted to put Ravens eggs under her but only had 6 so still collecting for the next broody or incubator.

I ended up not putting the Ameracaunas under her. There's a 3rd but it's weak still so I'm trying to get it stronger and kept the other 2 in for company.

OMMMGGGG WHAT A GOOD MAMA :D <3 <3 <3

Those pics are PRECIOUS!!!! :love :love :love :love
Yes she's been really good. She hatched 2 her self and then adopted the other 8 over a 2 hour span during the day just by shutting off the lights. Usually I wait til after dark to slip chicks under, so it went really great.
