A (supposedly) 1000-word rant that was going to be attached to the end of a blog post but then got scrapped because it made no sense at all, so...

IM REALLY GOOD AT THAT

I'm at the point that as I go through I'm dropping the word entirely, it's hardly needed, I'm not sure what I'm thinking when I write it In the original he smiles like 24x and grins 4x... Which I guess out of 7000 words isn't too bad but idk, is he just too happy or something?

If a character NEEDS to be happy then my go to is a soft huff out the nose.
All my WIP characters are like…walls of stone…but still human, so it suits them to find amusement and show it in that small way. I also like to talk about the mirth or joy or humor or whatever it is “flashing” in their eyes.
I’ve got a lot of nonhuman characters and the Casothien laugh by…I think it was hissing?
They can’t smile cuz beaks.
They also will rapidly click their beaks together like a less aggressive shoebill when delighted.
