Have you checked out the "Save the Cat" novel structure? I certainly don't marry any of my stories to it, but it can help determine placement of certain scenes from a percentage standpoint, as well as what sort of scenes should come before and after. It's really helped me to learn pacing.

I have not. I really like to wing things I should though, I'm sure I'd find something of use.

Same! I love pantsing. It's more fun when I have no idea what's going to happen. Tend to write myself into corners, but eh...

It's taken me 18 months to figure out how to get a cat out of a well. He's fine. Everything's fine.

That’s a long time
Thankfully when I find corners I just become increasingly random.
Concussed someone needs to be hundreds of miles away? Majik plant. Muscles not working but has to get over the cliffs? Does it anyway cuz willpower and adrenaline or something

Honestly. One of the things I've realized I'm struggling with right now with my story is... me My inability to concentrate and read has decided to show up because my story has reached a reasonable length, I'm having a hard time remembering details of what happened and where I'm at.
Not sure how I'm supposed to fix that, and hoping it's just a temporary thing...
Editing's going to be a very fun time for me I think

The other day I was reading back to see Arcilas (cuz I mentioned him in Storywriters) and I was like dang, okay man, this is fire, past me was on another level…

Set small goals? I'm taking on one chapter at a time per month, and my current editing cycle is edit every other chapter, not starting with chap. 1 but with chap. 2, and going every other chapter and edit in that order.

I have struggled with the length bit myself. That's one of the reasons why I'm working so hard to get everything right the first time around. It'll be less discouraging for me to edit if there's less work to worry about. But then again, I really think my editing process right now is helping me, so it doesn't seem as big as of right now.

On the remembering part, I'm actually very weird on that. My memory is terrible. But strangely, I can remember stories. For years. So remembering specific scenes and what not isn't so much as a problem for me. (That is, of course, excluding what my character did with their hand five seconds ago or the fact their eyes were already closed when I decided they should close them. )
