I'm wanting to write numbers on eggs (Ex, 1, 2, 3) to identify the eggs underneath my broody hens. Then I'll write down on paper when #1 eggs was laid and when it will hatch so I know when to either collect the baby or pitch the bad egg. I'm wanting to use a black permanent sharpie since it would be the easiest, but I'm afraid the ink will bleed through and kill/harm the chick, thus reducing hatchability. If that isn't safe, is pencil okay?
