One rapid step after another, hearts racing as one, she looks back behind her but keeps a firm hold on his hand and continues to run, the sound of the pursuers footsteps worming itself into her mind and setting a whole new kind of panic into her. She looks up through the tangled branches of the trees and looks up at the bright stars in the cold dark sky, the one thing that she and he never were able to touch, but if they just kept on going, they could finally be free. Unexpectedly she trips over a rock and staggers for a moment snapping back to reality, and keeps on moving. She tugs on his hand and brings him up next to her, she lets go of his warm hand and rests her hand on his back, she pushes him forward. 'Go.' She murmurs 'Dont stop.' His dark blue eyes stare into hers, fear, panic and love all in one glance, until he nods and sprints ahead further. She continues to race after him, but quite a bit slower, her legs burning and her lungs screaming, but she tells herself with a glimmer of hope, we have to keep going, we're almost there and then it will all be done. It will all melt away... , she looks back behind her and catches a glimpse of flashing lights and silouettes of their captors. Turning her head she sets her sights on far ahead of her, watching him carefully making sure that he got there first. She sees him suddenly skid halt on the edge of a cliff and look back at her, she gets a sudden jolt of energy and speeds up, faster then shes ever run before the pain in her chest and her legs fading away. This is it, we're finally here.. She slides on the edges of her feet up beside him and glances behind them again, panting even heavier then before, she looks up at him and smiles widely, but he doesnt return the smile, his eyes cold and emotionless but yet, sad. She realizes what hes looking at and her smile fades, closing her eyes and concentrating, a feeling of emptyness washes over her, then slowly she opens her eyes looking at him the same way he is, cold and emotionless, and yet sad. She glares at the chains all around him, her stomach wrenching at the sight of the sheer amount of them, shackles on his neck, wrists and his ankles, flowing down him like water and weighing him down. She then painfully looks at his wings, or what remains of them, just a faded image of the broken, torn and abused wings, the chains around them weighing them down, making them look even more pitiful then they already are. She doesnt even think of looking at herself, it didnt matter to her, what matters to her is helping him. Snapping out of her emotionless state, she stands on her tiptoes and hugs him tightly, resting her head on his chest and listening to his heartbeat. She then feels him embrace her, his hand on the back of her head, holding her as close to him as he can, his forehead on the top of her head. They stand there for what they wish was forever, but then pull apart and look at each other, he grabs her hand and holds it, turning to the edge of the cliff they're on, the sound of their pursuers getting closer and closer. They look out at the city, the sirens and horns from cars ringing out to the silent sky, the dark yet bright buildings and the flickering stars above them. They look at each other and smile, then she turns with her back to the edge and takes a few steps, her foot on the very edge of the cliff, she smiles timidly at him, fear and excitement going through her, and she knows that he feels the same, he smiles back at her.

And she takes one more step, falling down into the darkness with each other, carried on new wings. Wings of their new freedom.

Noice. I should do that with mine. Probably won't be able to find it tho.

Shaylyn stroked her creamy white feathers. She twisted her carrot colored hair. Her dress flowed around her ankles. She spun a little, before blushing, wondering if anyone saw her. The palace ballroom was filled with folk with wings, but one man stood out. Guests droned on and told dull stories, while he stood alone. Surely some other girl would fall head over heels for the handsome man, and he would love her back. Even with his rugged clothing, Shaylyn would have thought someone, anyone would come near, but it did not happen. Slow, repetitive music played, and couples danced, the woman wore long colorful gowns, and the men fine tailored suits, swinging them around. But she did not feel in the mood for dancing in this stuffy atmosphere, where she awkwardly stood for hours. Other guests were happy to chat over hors d'oeuvres and hold champagne flutes on little plates, but she didn't feel hungry. She realized the man saw her staring, and finally decided to go outside. Strangely, he followed. She admired his grace in walking and his blue butterfly wings.
As she walked through the French doors and breathed in the cool night air she felt refreshed. She realized she was sweating from being inside and felt terribly unladylike. She breathed the sweet scent of petunias and sighed happily. Other couples were chatting and dancing out here. At the far end of the courtyard there was a hedge. She knew behind it there were gardens, an incredible sight to behold. The sky held no moon, and so it was black as ink and the sky was sprinkled with millions of lights. Light still filled the courtyard even without a moon though, as the door caused the light to spill out into it, and there were a few lanterns as well.
Shaylyn gasped a little as the man approached her.
"The party was a bit too slow for me, but it's nice out here," he said, mirroring Shaylyn's thoughts exactly. "Perhaps we shall fly together?" He suggested. She nodded and their hands touched for a fleeting moment before they wordlessly flew into the night sky, lost in a world sprinkled with stars, staring into each others shining eyes.
