Ok so please tell me the medicine and dosages you used. I have a silkie chick that just started showing the symptoms earlier, her head is tilted like she is looking up constantly! I've read poly visol drops but since yours is better I want to give your method a shot!

Hi, I am no vet! And definitely not an expert in this, but this is what I found worked for me!

I bought some poly idol that I added to the water just so he was getting some extra as he was still able to drink at first...

Then I crushed together 2 vitamin e liquid tablets, 2 vitamin b tablets, and 1mg of prednisolone, and 2 selenium tablets with 1ml of nutri drops I ordered from the omlet shop online.

I then split this up into 2 doses which I had to drop feed him twice a day.

In between that I would hand feed scrambled egg, to try and boost him, and changed his feed.

I did this for 2 weeks....

Then on the third week I halved the doses and only gave it him once a day...

Then on the fourth week halved the dose again, and have it him every other day, this was to check he was definitely ok, and to make sure the prednisolone was reduced slowly.

Luckily he pulled through so far, but is a bit smaller and still has a kink in his neck.

But he is happy running around!

There are lots of pills and potions but to treat a thiamine deficiency you need to raise the B1 , most people give a concoction of drugs without really knowing which of them made the difference. Too much selenium can be fatal to a chicken and prednisone is something they need to be weaned off gradually.

Ok I have bought the vit E and the selenium but I can't find the poly visol without iron what can I do I have nutridrench at home and the vitamin electrolyte mix from tractor supply.

Nutridrench is fantastic for this situation most people don't have that on hand.

I think it depends on what is the cause, if it is a vaulted skull and therefore a Brain injury, the steroids will be needed, if it is the deficiency then the vitamins without should work. It seems to get a lot worse before getting better even when giving them the treatment, some mornings I would think he was never going to pull through!
Just a tip make sure that you do not have any deep water bowls because when it gets bad and they are dragging their heads along the floor if they get stuck in a bowl they will drown!

I know there is slot of risks, especially hand feeding, but I had already lost one chick, and it is do anything or you are going to loose them anyway! X
