Wry neck chick has bad reaction to drinking

Watching those videos, I wonder if the trouble is caused by how the water goes down her throat? Chickens usually tip their head up to let the water go down their throat, but with her head tipped at a different angle, the water might flow somewhere it should not go.

Have you tried holding her so the head is the right way up while she swallows? Of course, you would probably have to turn her body at some weird angle to do that.

You could try vitamin E and selenium 3 times a day. In case it is neurological this might help.

And instead of cold water I would only let her have lukewarm water .

What about the right eye, is it normal or does she squint all the time keeping it half closed?

It's usually wide open. Her eyes close when her head falls over, almost like she's losing consciousness.

I try to keep her head straight as she drinks and it makes a big difference. I let it fall for the video so you can see what happens. She has no problem eating, so I agree that it has to do with the angle of her head/throat.

If the supposedly dislocated vertebra squeezes the spinal cord this might just be the case.

What a difference a few days make! Once she was able to drink on her own, her progress has soared. She is still unsteady when she drinks, but I haven't had to assist her at all since Friday. She is still getting Poultry Cell twice a day.
