Wry neck chick has bad reaction to drinking

Update on Gumby Leghorn: She's in great shape! After almost 6 weeks of care she seems to have no issues. She can finally drink without her head falling over and she's beginning to climb and flutter up on things.

Update on Gumby: at 3 months, she has been integrated with the other 2 hens. The dominant one displaced her a lot, but she gradually learned her place and is doing so well! You wouldn't think there was ever anything wrong with her if you didn't know, but sometimes when she's worried, her head will twist to one side. The most important lesson I learned about treating wry neck is to never give up!

what a great outcome, thanks for sharing.

I had a chick with worse wry neck than yours and he didn't survive past day 4. I was so upset at losing him after nursing him so intensively. Well done for doing it and so glad to see your chick did well.

Another big update! Gumby has laid her first egg!!! She's now 5 months old and has grown into such a beauty. She and the other hens have been sharing their free roam space with a bunny, who she loves to chase, lol. Thanks to all here who gave me support and advice. Once again, the most important take away is to never give up on animals. Gumby never gave up on herself and look at her now. 🥰

I love your important takeaway! She looks great! When we have animals that have issues or injuries they may not have the longest life span, but their quality of life can be increased by our care. Love this success story!
