Hello everyone (or at least everyone who reads or answers this)
I have a little over 2 month old silkie that just last week started with wry neck. He would tuck his head underneath his body and walk/run backwards trying to shake his head loose. I have read A LOT of information regarding this condition so did not see need to post, but here's the problem I am running into.
Upon noticing the symptom come on I started pushing things I had on hand. Rooster booster, B Complex, Nutra-drench. The next day I ran out and got vitamin e and started that. Yesterday I started pickling out black sunflower seeds and cracking those which I feel really helped. Today I picked up Poly-Vi-Sol which in a post I read someone said to give one to two drops.
Here is my question: out of everything I have listed above, what and how much a day should I be giving him so I don't over due things and make him worse again? He is not tucking as much and can snap himself out of an episode easier than he was (usually we intervene and untuck his head gently).
I did put a call into my vet, but the aviary one has not replied back. Thanks for reading!!!

This is our beautiful little boy, he loves to cuddle so he can get in a nap!

You only need to give thiamine (B1,) a little selenium, and vitamin E—all of which are in PoultryNutraDrench. Dosage is 1 ml daily. It is okay to give some extra vitamin E, up to 400 IU daily. Do not give anything else, or you risk overdosing some of the vitamins. You have 2 cuties there.

He wasn't showing any improvement on those. Honestly the sunflower seeds is where I saw the improvement. Would I be better off giving the poly-vi-sol and stopping the other concoctions? The poly-vi-sol has:
Vit A
Vit C
Vit D
Vit E
Thiamin
Riboflavin
Niacin
Vit B6
Vit B12
Thanks I love them both very much!

Sunflowers have selenium and vitamin E, but I would not feed only those, just a few and his regular feed. Polyvisol is a human baby vitamin, not any better of a vitamin than NutriDrench. The ND is accurate in dosage for chickens 1 ml for each 3 pounds of weight. No need to mix all these up. Just give some E and some thiamine, plus some selenium, but not too much.

Ok great. Any idea how long it may take before he quits the episodes or if he may never stop completely? I read that once he stops to continue treatment for up to a month so he doesn't relapse. Was really hoping my vet would call, not that they can cure him. Thanks!

Is your feed fresh dated? What feed are you using? Wry neck is only a symptom, and can be caused by a head injury, vitamin E or B1 deficiency, it can be hereditary, and it also can be a sign of certain diseases that affect the brain, such as Mareks, and some others. I would make sure that the chick is eating and drinking enough, which sometimes can be a challenge. They can be hurt by others, so watching to see if it needs separated. I like to leave chickens with their flocks unless they are being hurt, but then just separate in a dog crate with food and water in sight of the flock for interaction. Time is unknown since wry neck is caused by so many things. Each case is different, but hopefully your little one will improve soon.

Yes he was eating and drinking just fine and still is. When not having an episode he acts pretty happy and normal. Or do you mean eating sunflower seeds before this? No.

I have an easter egger hen, 10 months old, who does this same thing repeatedly, daily- bends her head down shakes it and walks backward. She is totally normal in between the episodes of doing this-eats normal-I've upped protein, give vitamins, still she shakes her head and walks backward. many times dialy. She is the bottom of the pecking order and gets picked on often. No bugs, no other health issues I can see. She walks around normal with her head up eating and scratching. If you find a cause please share it here!
I've posted videos on instagram of my Ethel doing this - Michiganchickenlady
Hope your chicky remains fine!

They are on a all flock feed, has eaten and drank fine. They are indoors since I got them, so constantly monitored. There is only 3 together, came from one person. He acts absolutely normal unless he goes to scratch his head, pecks at something to far underneath him, then he has an episode. I separated him because he was dragging his head through the bedding and the other two were getting worried about him. He has seem to improve some, at least noticably to me.
