I just hatched a new batch of chicks- one of which had a severe case of wry neck. His neck was bent up and if he stood up, he fell backwards immediately. Thankfully it is curable! This disease also does not spread to others, however it is best to keep them separated to the others do not pick on it. What we did was make a barrier and put him in a hat so he could be stable and not fumble around too much.
What I did was simply give him Children's Poly Vi Sol, make sure it is the one without iron. All I did was give him 2 small drops of it once per day in the morning. That same day at night he was able to stand up without immediately falling backwards so it does work fairly fast. I continued giving him the drops once per day and after 4 days, he was able to rejoin the rest and was standing and walking normal.
It is very important to keep the chick separated, fed, and hydrated during this time because they cannot move their head down. The medicine comes with a dropper that can be used for the water. For food, I ground up his feed and mixed it with water. I used a toothpick as a spoon to easily feed him, but they will not go for it immediately. Feeding is the most difficult part, so I put tiny bits on his beak until he recognized it as food. Make sure not to reuse the same paste and make it fresh as it can cause bacteria to grow and potentially make the little one sick.
Edit: I should also say there are several ways to cure this! In my case, he responded to only needing one medicine while other may require more. Sometimes it also takes longer to cure- but if you try our a different method or add additional medicines start out in small doses! This is to prevent overdoses- which is why it is important to go with medicines without iron as iron is very easy to overdose on.
