Hello,
A week ago I found one of my chickens with its head backwards. I read up on the issue and it seems that she has wry's.
We started to feed Vitamin E, vitamins, pedialyte for electrolytes, and also have been syringe feeding chicken food to her. She still chews and swallows with no issues.
Two days ago, she stopped standing, and now only lays on her side. She will sometimes try to stand and then stay on her side after failing, and yesterday during feeding she flapped her wings wildly.
We had planned to feed her and continue the vitamin treatment, as most information we have found states that patience and feeding are the main things.
My questions:
1. Today, though, we found worms in the poop! I have not been able to find any information on wrys + worms. Could these be unrelated problems, or are they most likely linked?
2. Also, I suspect that the wry's may have been caused by injury, since this is an adult hen. Can wrys from injury be cured with vitamins, or is this a waste of time?
3. At what point should I consider euthanasia?
Thanks!
