I have a blue polish that was attacked by my blue Cochin. The Cochin pecked Dottie several times on her head and then had her pinned to the ground by her neck. Dottie's poor head started to swivel around after the attack this was on Wednesday. I started treatment for wry neck since she seems twisted. We were having to dip her beak in water to get her to drink, and having to place a yogurt mash which contained her vitamin e in her mouth and she then would eat it. Last night she got up and was moving about but still not eating on her own, until I brought my 2 month old phoenix pullet in and set her by her food bowl, well a little competition seemed to do the trick Dottie got up and ate until her crop was near bursting! She's drinking on her own and she is up and moving about instead of running backwards she is now moving forwards. Her head is still twisted slightly, she also trembles. Eyes are clear her aim is dead on as I am typing this she is busy pecking my daughter's yellow toe nail polish. I think the wry neck was brought on by the stress of her attack but what I don't understand is do chickens with wry neck tremble? I also noticed she seems to feel better in the afternoons-evenings as compared to the mornings. I know I have a long road to recovery for her and I am not even sure she will be 100% as she tends to favor the side her head twists towards. I am thankful she isn't completely stargazing. I brought in her mate and he just lays down by her side and she rests her head on him while she sleeps, well the Cochins came in this afternoon and just the sight of them sent poor Dottie's head to turning. Spike chased them off but they came back so I just moved the Cochin devils to the bathroom until DH finishes the netting on top of their run which hopefully will be today.
Questions I am asking.....
Do chickens with wry neck tremble?
Should I be using a different treatment?
Should I add electrolytes to her water?
I give her vitamin e 3x day and put the selenium is in her water should I use a different method to deliver the selenium?
If this is neurological will the treatment she is on now help?
Thanks everyone
Cherish
