1) Swedish Flower hen , 10 weeks and normal weight but she has always been the smallest my SFH’s out of 10 chicks I got.
2) This started about 5 days ago, she began what appeared to be star gazing(this has since stopped) and looking twisted. Yesterday she was unable to walk for a few minutes, however that has not happened since. What I am seeing is subtle but she stumbles and holds her body twisted.
Something is not right and Idk what exactly.
4) No other chicken I have is showing any signs of illness or injury
5) No injury I can see, vent looks normal, she can fully extend both wings without issue.
6) What happened? I have no idea, truly puzzled.
7) Clean water closed bucket with nipples, I feed Nuterena chick starter/grower 18% or Kalamback chick starter/grower 18% They are not nor have they ever been on medicated feed.
8) How does the poop look? Normal
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
I started with just adding sunflower seeds and added poultry cell to their water. Now I have her in my garage in my brooder tent isolated. She is getting 1 capsules of Vit E, .25 Vit B Complex, and some selenium mixed with a bit of egg and feed 2x a day.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? There are no vets that will see chickens anywhere near me unfortunately so I am on my own with this.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition. Added link to video
12) 10x8 Main coop: construction sand for bedding run 16x11 dirt and wood chips. They do free range but only supervised for an hr or two right now as they are all only 10 weeks old.

This is long 4 and a half min. I am sorry but it does show what I am seeing. You have to zoom in right before and then at the 3:20 mark she does a shiver with her neck backwards this is also new and started last night.

Hi! So sorry about your SFH.

Having had a couple of silkies through the years with symptoms like that, I've done this:
She is getting 1 capsules of Vit E, .25 Vit B Complex, and some selenium mixed with a bit of egg and feed 2x a day.
Except, a bit of scrambled eggs has enough selenium in it to help the E absorb. My E is 400 iu. which is what is recommended, once per day in total, but can be split up throughout the day, and that's actually better to do.

I continued this for many weeks and did see improvement, but it was slow. One such hen I still have that has the jerk head still, which I presume is neurological. I have off and on given her the E when I do scrambled eggs for everyone. She's now 3 years old and has always been fully functional, living a good life.

I've had a couple of birds with random neurological 'ticks'. I did try vitamin therapy and it didn't improve. Nothing seemed to make it better or worse, in my birds it was only randomly periodic, not constant. They lived full, basically normal lives. As long as they can eat and drink normally, and other birds don't bully or injure them, they can do well.

Thank you, good to know I am on the right track here. She is still bright and curious, preening, eating, drinking, and pooping normally. I will continue on then and now I have more hope for a livable outcome. Thank you for the dosing information, very helpful I will adjust accordingly.

All we can do is try our best. Thank you for the response, it helps to know that she may just be this way and that can be okay too.
