Wry Neck Progression

She seems better - no seizure yesterday - but she definitely could not see. If you shine a light in her eyes, they don't dialate nor does she react when you pass your hand near her eyes. I'm going to continue, because she seems like she's getting better and I'm not sure if the sight issue was there before and could get better too or not. I'll take some video of her when I get home tonight and you all can tell me how quality you think her life is....she came out of her crate last night when we called her, she drinks when we dropper the water for her and eats when we put food to her mouth.

The shot of B12 seems to have done the trick! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her sight is getting better too! She's outside stretching and cleaning herself, and ...wow.

OH HURRAY! I am so happy! I hope her progress continues!
I think Rye relasped a tiny bit a little while after the first shot so I gave her one more. That was a long time ago, I have not gave her any since. She has turned out to be a slightly smaller but dominating barred rock in the coop. She is a bit of a bully actually.
Well, keep us updated!

Me too! I am SO glad for this site and all of you!!!! I'd have given up! I'm going to give her a few more days and give her another shot. I actually wound up calling my vet asking to put her downbecause I didn't know doseage and she said she hadn't worked on chickens since she was in vet school, but looked up the dose for me, and gave me an "Exotic" vet to use from now on! Yay!

Yes Thank you Teri! And funny that I've been looking for a chicken vet. I NEVER would have imagined that I needed to look for a vet that sees "Exotic" pets~! LOL Going out to check on her....she's in a dog runI moved out to the paddock until she's 100% (I don't want the others picking on her). I should've asked my vet to start with who I could take her to.

i woke up this morning to find my bantam cochin with what i think is wry neck... i want to try and get him some B12... do you mind me asking what the dose was?? and did you just inject it into the breast?? hubby was a paramedic so i'm hoping he will do it...

I've been trying to help one of my hen's with this problem. She's not getting better but she is eating and drinking. Then a few days ago another one is doing it. Not as bad and the others are not picking on her yet. Do you think that I could have a vitamin deficency problem? I feed Layena and scratch as a treat. I bought some vitamin but just started them. Any ideas?
Where do you get the B-12 and what dosage?
