Wry neck...Treat or euthanize?? UPDATED with GREAT results!!

Thanks i was given a lavender orpington has a slght tyrn so i am trying to fix its neck. Where does one get nutdrench?

You should be able to get it from your local,produce store. It has vit E but lacks the thiamine B 1 so rooster booster is a better choice.

Ok, I'm currently giving him Nutri-drench with vitamin E and selenium. I'm now giving it 2x daily. Any other suggestions?

Check the label on your nutrdrench, does it contain vit B ?

Poultry Nutri-drench contains vitamin B1 (thiamine) but does not contain B2 (riboflavin,) as well as selenium. Poultry Cell, another brand, has all 3, and is pretty much the same as Nutri-drench.

Thanks, I have provided a link for the rooster booster poultry cell in my earlier post.The nutrdrench lists thiamine and vit E but no ratio which is why I recommended the rooster booster.

Your welcome, just to reiterate the rooster booster poultry cell is the one I'd go with.

Brewers yeast is also a valuable alternative in the meantime.

I have not read every post but I am dealing with a beautiful Crelle rooster who has wry neck very bad. I have tried everything that has been recommended to me. He has lost a dreadful amount of weight. I am tube feeding him now. We noticed he wasn't acting right on June 6th. I have been struggling with him ever since. Gee, it seems a lot longer than that. Vitamins of all sorts, electrolytes, baytril, I don't even know what else. I tried scrambled eggs, mashed up boiled eggs, medicated chicken starter. Right now I am feeding him water with powdered vitamins and electrolytes, raw egg mixed with poultry cell or liquid B-12. Switching off and on Niacin and Selenium and vitamin E.

I think I need to settle on one treatment but I'm afraid I will miss something. After reading the start of this thread, I fixed him some water with vitamins and electrolytes, they are together in powder form, and a raw egg with 2 caps of omega-3-acid ethyl esters 1000 mg.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's frustrating and it can take several weeks before you see results. Thiamine B1 selenium and vit E are crucial. If the medicated chick starter contained amprolium that wouldn't help as it would only have inhibited the levels of thiamine even further.
If you are tube feeding be sure that you are getting a product that contains the 3 essential down that tube, kaytee baby bird feed would be a good start.

Getting a bird to eat once it has lost its appetite can be half the battle I give mine cooked rice with Brewers yeast sprinkled on top and chopped up sardine in oil.

I think it's also important to take a good look at what you are feeding your flock , feeds high in corn are prone to cause selenium deficiencies in some breeds, I keep scratch to a minimum.

How long can it take to create a deficiency? I didn't mark down when I got him but I don't think it was more than a month before he started showing symptoms.

It could be something that has been an issue with him in the past and the stress of relocation could also have contributed to the condition. Some birds are more susceptible than others.
