I purchased silies from four different breeders , i feed the same all of them, the feed has all the proper nutrients. 4 of of 12 siilkies ended up wry neck from one breeder. The others are fine from the other breeders. Vitamin E , selenium , timeric, and b vitamins of ni use been over a month . I hand feed them tajes forever and they hate the vitamin E, its torture for them. This leads me to believe that the silkies wry neck is hereditary, or most likely poor nutrtion from the breeder momma hen. There is no hope for my silkies. I believe only thosr silkies recover from wry neck that actually had vitamin deficiency in their diet, mine did not. Most problems are resulting from the hen not having proper nutrition when laying. I will try one last thing and that is high potency cayenne pepper capsules.
Yes i use liquid thiamin daily as well. Its such a struggle,
Know that this an old post but wanted to share my experience:
Walked around the corner of coop to find my copper marans, Freckles, laying on the ground with her face facing upwards. At first I didn't think anything about of it because when they take a dirt bath they can look pretty freaky. Something told me to look close. When I picked her up her neck fell loosely but she was facing upside down. I didn't see any feathers so I knew she had not been attacked but thought she had hit the door and broke her nevk. I immediately took her to my husband who sat and held her for 3 hours before he handed her to me . I held her for about 3 hours also. We both thought every breathe would be her last. We googled "my chickens neck looks broken ". We came upon "wry" neck. Immediately went out for vit E. 2 days later improvement. We separated her from flock. Hand fed her and gave her water. 2 weeks later she is back to her own self![]()
