This is my Crested Pekin named Bob Ross (though we are pretty sure it's a girl at this point) who is nearing one year old. I dont think I will get another crested after becoming more informed on how they get their floof however still gonna give her the best life I can. I have noticed that she has a very prominent curve in her neck and that she doesnt hold it completely straight (like my standard male pekin that I have) while walking. Has she developed a mild form of wry neck or is this normal? If so what's the best route for correcting it? Thanks a ton! I also know that wry neck can be caused by vitamin deficiency so we feed them purina duck pellet if that helps (we also often mix in cracked corn). Photos attached.

It does not appear to be causing her any trouble in her daily life, I'm just worried about it worsening.

Our female crested has a similar kink in her neck. The crest is associated with a midline defect in the skull. I think there are other midline spinal defects that seem more common in ducks with one defect. It's not wry neck as that is a muscle issue. There is nothing to be done about bony defects. Your duck like ours seems to be happy, so don't worry about it. But don't breed from your crested.

I also have a pekin crested drake that is fortunately not affected by a neck deformity. He is a rescue that had been attacked by a raccoon as a duckling. He has enough to contend with as he has a deformed bill, without any other problems

Thanks for the info!
