Hi all, so I’ve had a chick that has had wry neck since she was 2 weeks old. She’s a black Jersey giant and is now 11 weeks old. We thought it would just take more time but we’re not seeing a change. We’ve been doing 400 iu of vitamin E as well as 1/4 of a vitamin B complex pill daily. There’s been no improvement though. She eats and drinks on her own but isn’t very Mobil otherwise as her neck is twisted. Can we up the dosage? Put a neck brace?

Some never get over it. You should consider if she can live a happy life.
We had a lil guy with Wry neck and I didn't notice it til he started getting bullied by the others boys because of it. We removed him from them and as he could eat, run, preen and roost ok, we let him live. Of course, people never set eggs from birds with defects. But if she can function properly, giving her a chance to live wouldn't hurt you and it'd help teach others about compassion.

I don’t plan on culling unless she’s suffering. As of right now she’s eating and drinking on her own. She’s doesn’t roost though. Should I continue vitamins? Or try anything else?

A neck brace is not really safe, it could cause her to choke or could get hung up and hang her. Pictures of the bird in question might be helpful. Head injury could also be a cause, if she was injured at two weeks. She may always be special needs, so entirely up to you how much to do. She may need to be kept separate, with one or two companions that don't pick on her.

I definitely don’t want her to choke.. I’m also worried it’s a neck injury In which case vitamins aren’t going to help. So far I’ve never seen her get picked on. For some reason all of the others just give her space. She can’t roost though so maybe I’ll just bring her in at night and let her go out and chicken during the day. We’ll see ☺️

For the most part her neck is always twisted the way it is in the pics. However she is able to turn her neck and clean her feathers when she wants to.
