My daughter is 7 and wants to join 4H this year and raise chickens. We have about 20 laying hens currently, but to be honest they are all feed store babies. Great for their intended purpose only.
I watched her care for an injured chicken the past few weeks and cry her eyes out when she had to be culled. She helps me care for the girls daily and was spellbound when we hatched mixed eggs from the auction. I had to pry her form the incubator, lol.
I have up to $40 I can spend for hatching eggs, prefer no bantys, but other then that totally open for suggestions and pics! I will show her the choices and allow her to choose her "project". Would love someone knowledgeable about the breed she chooses who will perhaps be an email contact for her. Will supply pictures of our adventure from egg to shows next summer.
Any suggestions for her? Thanks in advance, I have been reading BYC for several years and have greatly appreciated all that we have learned from others knowledge.
