Wanted, to cover chicken run 12' x 50': an old fishing net (large) or other suitable material.

I really don't want to have to spend another $200 on chicken wire and materials... help!

Suggestion: Check with high schools or 'baseball academies' in your area. Ask if you can have the old batting cage netting when they replace theirs. Also ask about the netting that drapes over the fan section to protect them from foul balls. That's what we use and it is GREAT!

If you are just trying to keep chickens in, then you can use the deer/garden netting from Lowes Hardware. Home Depot has it too, but I think they are a few dollars more. A 7' x 100' roll runs arounD $12. Then a $2 bundle of small zip ties.

I did this 2 weeks ago and covered a lot about the same size as your for a grand total of $14. I still have more then enough ties to do another couple lots, just need another roll of netting.

This stuff will NOT keep predators out, but it does keep the chickens in. It does keep the hawks out.

Ingenious! Thanks for the suggestions.

I'll go look for both of these to see how it can work in our setup.
