I’m curious about crossing whiting true blues to black copper marans. What could I expect in the offspring? I have a clutch in the incubator that are all blue eggs from WTB’s that may have been fertilized by either a WTB roo or a BCM roo. Could I expect to see any visual cues to know if the chicks are pure WTB or F1 olive Eggers? I also have some eggs that were given to me that are f1 WTB x BCM OE’s that could have the same fathers, either a WTB or a BCM. Hope this isn’t too confusing 🤣 also curious about potential egg colors! Thanks!

You'll know when they lay if they lay green/olive eggs.

But if the rooster that fathered the chicks were a BCM, the chicks should have black down. If some of the mothers are black, then it'll be harder to tell. If the BCM rooster has feathered legs, that should be passed on to the chicks, & they can be identified being fathered by that particular rooster.

Thank you very much! I’m seeing some that are a variety of colors and noting a few with feathered feet that came out of the F1 eggs, I’ll post some pics when they are out of the incubator & all dried off 😀

F1 egg chicks are out! All have feather legs to varying degrees, I’m wondering if a BCM x OE is more likely for the darker colored ones & a WTB x OE for the lighter ?
