Backyard Homestead Chicken Processing Workshop


When? June 2nd , 8a - 10a

Where? 30 min. from Parkersburg, past WVU-Parkersburg Campus on Rt. 47. (Directions will be provided.)

Who? For those who would like to learn how to kill, pluck and process a chicken in a humane and efficient manner.

What? You’ll receive a live chicken to dispatch, pluck, and process yourself. You’ll leave the workshop with practical skills, self-confidence and a naturally raised, free ranged chicken for your Sunday dinner.

How? PM for details and to reserve your place in this hands-on workshop, as reservations will fill fast and only 10 can attend the workshop! **9 openings left!***


****For those interested, there will be discussion afterwards on raising chickens on the cheap and a look at how these birds were raised.****

I think this is a great idea. I wish I would have been able to attend something like this before I had to butcher my first birds all by myself.
 
There have been so many times I wished I could help people on here...they seem so lost, and scared of the whole process. I enjoy teaching about things like this and I've been butchering for so long it doesn't phase me at all. I like helping others get started in raising chickens andhelping demystifying the whole thing...it's really very simple at the bottom of things.

It should be a good experience and Mom's place is so pretty that it will be a double delight for the attendees.
 
Here's a short video of the way these CX are being raised and where the workshop will be held. You can't see it in the video but there is a log cabin built onto the front of the trailer, so it's a pretty little place here at Mom's. She will be teaching this workshop along with me and she's been processing animals since 1978..as have I.
