We were raided as we were setting up. It wasn't supposed to start til 10:00 and we were pretty much cleaned out by then.

But, we're doing this again in the Fall so be ready. You'll need to get your flock prepared by participating in the NPIP program. It's a free service in WV but means you cannot add any birds to your flock that don't come from fellow participating flocks. Hatcheries are npip so you can always get chicks.

We're gonna try to get Jesse to test again so anyone in WV can participate.

I also had a fantastic time! My hubby let me get a few more than we had originally planned too! Most of all it was really great getting to meet and speak with everyone! (Those bunnies were adorable!)

Another one in the fall? Yipeeeee!

I am very new to the forum and chicken's but the wife and I stopped in around 1030-1100 and enjoyed learning and speaking with a fw of you. I hope to start building our coop in the next few weeks and we are looking at trying to get 4-5 Buff Orph. around the end of June.

We are open to anyone with tips, or ideas or comments so feel free to contact us. We live in Capon Bridge now but from Shepehrdstown.

Thanks

Brian and Kim

PS I am hoping to build something like:

Hi! I hope you had a good time yesterday. I think you have picked out a terrific coop. And...I love to talk orpingtons and silkies.

majestic - thanks, I am sure I will need to pick your brain before long. We considered get 2 differnet breeds for variety but weren't sure about the Buff's getting ppick on? Are there other breeds they get along with?

That's cool. I had thought that it was a neat idea and even showed my wife the very professional looking flier on the bulletin board at TSC, and felt bad that there were so few there and thought maybe the heat kept folks away. I'm glad that I just missed it. I'll have to remember next time that 10:00 startup means get there by 8:00

In my layer flock I have Orpingtons with Light Brahmas, Leghorns, and Partridge Rocks. They all get along fine. Now I will also say that I have Silver Laced Wyandottes in with them but never again. They free-range and are fine. But give them one day cooped up in a coop-and-run enclosure...and they pick on everyone.
