That is not true. You can sell eating eggs from your farm with no certification but, there is some process to go through before you can legally sell eggs from a swap/farmers market/grocery store, etc. If you are planning on bringing eating eggs, please make sure you call the ag. dept. and ask and bring the necessary documents with you. Thanks.

Anybody going that might have a small Serama roo for sale? I guess my roo was too big or too rough for my pullets and kept injuring them, so I had to sell him. I can't seem to find anyone in my area that has Seramas, let alone smaller ones.

I am also looking for a Blue Copper Marans pullet/hen for a reasonable price?

I told DH that I wanted to leave by 7am so I could make it to this one before everything was sold

I don't have any source to "cite" just have heard all the stories from folks going through the process. Read Iggimoms post like 2 before yours where she is talking about how she did it... you know, where she mentions the word, "certified". It may be as easy as she says. You will need that document.

There was a newspaper article awhile back... lemme google

Can you cite a source for this?

I am certified to sell eggs for eating. It is a very simple process. Call your Dept. of Ag. in Charleston, WV., and ask them.

But it should be done if you are going to sell eggs anywhere. I sell eggs to my local health food store, and other places, too.

You fill out a small form, answering questions like, about how many chickens you have, what breeds, so form, number of eggs you think you will sell.

It cost me $10.

They do not expect exact answers.

I'll see if I can find a source in writing, as per your request, but my information came from the Dept. of Ag.

You know, I have some nice little Serama's I guess I could bring along. I had not planned to be a vender, really. I guess I can check into the NPIP thing.

I have no objection to getting a license if it is required, but I won't get one because someone heard from their neighbor's cousin's grandmother's aunt that someone told them it was true.

It also means that the Dept of Ag in WV is distributing contradictory information on the issue.
