Could someone thats good with colours help here...
I have a few sex linked GLW hens (gold roo over a silver hen, both pure colour lines)
If I got a GLW roo to breed to the hens would they breed pure GLW chicks or would there be silver in them or would it just be a mess.
Thanks for any help

I did mix them and have the gold hens from the hatch...I want to know what colours to expect if I cross them back to a gold roo...they will have 3/4 gold breeding

Your gold hens are pure for gold and will produce all pure for gold offspring when bred to a gold rooster.
Gold and silver are sex linked which means hens can only carry one gene for it.
They can only be one or the other. They can't carry a gene for each like a male can.
If females show gold they're gold and only gold.
If they show silver they are silver and only silver.

Thanks for explaining that, really helpful...had tried with the chicken calculator it couldnt get my head round it...will get them a gold roo then, since they seem like good enough birds
